Care of outdoor teak furniture

Teak furniture is a lifetime investment. Impervious to rain, frost or sunlight, it needs no preservatives for general use. Left to age naturally, it will become a soft silvery gray color. To retain and enhance the original honey color, we recommend cleaning with a soft brush and soapy water, followed by the application of teak oil. The frequency of oil treatment will depend on the exposure to elements, typically bi-annually. Use a teak cleaner to remove stains or return a weathered piece to its original color. A light sanding with brass wool or fine grit sandpaper will remove stains and scratches. Mold and mildew can be removed by cleaning with a 4 to 1 diluted solution of chlorine bleach.
